It may be a function of its installation that some minimal airflow is restricted, and it is no issue until you reach those very high temperatures. The simplest fix would be to buy a cheap fan and let it blow onto the generator. It will draw very little electricity and possibly solve the problem on those rare times when the temperatures are so high.
