Getting the dealer to owe up

Call me obtuse, but that last statement doesn't make sense to me given the preceding words-?

If you mean to say that you bought the rig without having performed any inspection/test drive etc., and without any written guarantee prior to/accompanying the sale, I think you're likely pretty much at the Dealer's mercy.
