Thanks, everyone.
I am enjoying the replies. My base is Indiana and I will potentially move campgrounds in the middle of the assignment (depends on the rate I negotiate or the rules of the campground), but yes it will sit for periods of time. There is a potential of me taking an assignment in Indiana and then taking something on the east coast and then maybe onto the West coast. It just depends on what I am feeling and how well the gig pays...
My boys are now teenagers and I want to teach them how to drive big coaches or big trailers or something like that. The wife and I have plans on using this when I am between assignments or when I am close to home.
Having owned a TT albeit a small one, I do not like the white knuckle experiences even on occasion. A cardiologist friend was killed when his very large TT and Ford Excursion got away from him. Even though I drive very defensively, I am concerned about things like panic stops with either a large TT or a 5'er. I have seen a big 5'er go screeching through an intersection with all wheels locked up. Surely, he was overweight but all I know is what I saw.
To me, the Class A are just built better... a real engine, a real chassis, real brakes meant to stop the weight, etc. The only thing scaring me is the potential of a water leak and delamination. Newmar being built with hung wall is easy to fix, supposedly.
Yes, I am quite handy... No delusions of being a diesel mechanic but I can figure out and repair most things.
