Go to and leaving Cherry Hill park DC area

Planning to go to Washington this week (Tues to Friday), it seems the best route from where I am now in PA to there is through Frederik, go on the 70 to the 29 and then Cherry Hill road to the park.

Going back the trip planner want to take me toward Baltimore on the 29, then 695 to the 83 to Harrisburg, but this looks like it would be very busy.

I'm think of going back to Frederick the way I came and then head for the 81 to Harrisburg, even though it is longer I'm hoping for less traffic.

Any thoughts?

    I looked at that but lots of folks suggested avoiding the 495. My only experience with traffic in the area has always been by cab when on business and the 495 always seemed to busy. With a 40 MH and toad I'm hoping for a slightly less busy route.

    We went from Gettysburg taking 15 to 270 to 495. Cherry Hill is just off of 495. It was crowded, but nothe too bad.
