I usually arrive in Albuquerque from the west so I can't help you route wise from the east. But, once in Abq, see Amy at High Desert RV Park on 13000 Central Ave to the west side of ABQ. It's a low frill RV park but its clean, well maintained, and the price is right. If you're on a real budget, Sandia Casino allows free no hook up RV parking but don't push it too long. So does Route 66 Casino on I-40 10 miles west of Abq.
To get more applicable info you need to post more about your travel interests. I can suggest hundreds of things to do around Abq but I'm just shooting in the dark if I don't know what you like to do and your time frame. The balloon festival is one worthwhile event if it interests you but you should avoid Abq during the festival if it doesn't interest you.
