Cafe Du Monde has great Beignets. BUT, you will be waiting in line for quite some time. When I visited, the line was down the street. But, we didn't notice it, and walked right in, and found a seat... Took a bit to get served and then we realized that the waiters have "x" amount of tables, and when one leaves, the waiter goes out to get the next person in line. We cut in front of probably a 100 people or more inadvertently. We did get served and only afterwards did we realize it.
If you like jazz, you've got to visit Preservation hall. It's a "hole in the wall", but very famous, and lots of jazz musicians have been there. Sometimes famous jazz players just show up and play, You have to get there early and stand in line, but it's neat. Just off Bourbon street.
Lots to do, that's for sure.
