Just to clarify, I didn't really spend a decade debating the purchase. Just started researching RVs about 5 years before I was retirement-eligible since I thought it might be an enjoyable activity, although I didn't really have the time or scheduling freedom to make much use of a RV until I retired. And then salary/pension/age made it too good a deal to stay another 4 years beyond initial eligibility.
Lots of trade-offs in any RV purchase, but I like the ones that come with a Class B. I can park it in my driveway, without blocking anything. I can easily drive and park it almost anywhere - no towing a trailer or toad. Most of our camping will probably be more like "touring" - using mostly state or national parks as a base to tour the area and see the sights, with some tailgating, winery visits & festivals as available. If our camping style evolves, a different RV might become a better fit, but right now the RT is a good fit.
