Goodyear RV 670 vs Michelin XZE

Firestone FS560's. Good tires, and cheaper than the Goodyear and Michs.

I just started looking today for mine, and at the dealer here in town it was gonna be 2871.55 for 6 tires (Goodyear 670's), mounted, balanced.. blah blah.. Called a different company and they sell Michelin. She said they have the Michelin at approx 362 per tire (if I use the Family Motor Coach Association discount - 397.00 ea without discount) before mount, balance, but that they had a BF Goodrich tire made by Michelin for apporox 275 per tire before all the mounts, balance, etc. My tires are 225 70R/19.5

Think I'm going with BF Goodrich this time. We don't go very far in so. My question to you guys is this. My spare is brand new. Never mounted and only on the back of the motorhome underneath. Do you think it needs replaced too? By date code all tires are 8 this year. Thanks.

Another question I just thought of is do you guys recommend Spin balancing or Equal balancing?

I had both GY and Michelin with no problems with either. I usually buy new tires every three to four years when they reach approximately 60,000 miles. This allows me to negotiate a trade in value for my old tires. At that time I either go with the GY or the Michelin tires depending on who has the best deal at the time. I use the RV Dynabeads and have never had a problem with uneven tire wear on either brand.

And to the people that cuss G670 to death...a question.

How much weight are you running on the front axle ( NOT what its rated at but how much you ACTUALLY are running)....and what PSI of inflation are you using?

hate to disagree but Goodyear G670s are the worst tires I have ever had on several RVs. In 3 years 4 front end alignments, 3 rotations of these rivering pieces of junk and replacement in about half the recommended time.

I've had Goodyears on my last two coaches...G670s. They showed very little wear and performed flawlessly. I believe you reap what you sow.

Put 'tires' in the search box above and check out the "opinions" of a lot of folks on here. Many seem to think they know more than the engineers that design and build them.

I've maintained my tires per the manufactures instructions including PSI, balancing etc. It is my belief that because of this, my tires have performed as they were designed. I run G670s on my drive and tag axle with Michelins on the steer. Michelins because Goodyear does not make a 315/80/22.5 tire.

Goodyear and Michelin are the only two manufacturers who specifically make an RV tire. The others are TRUCK tires. I would consider putting truck tires on a truck if I had one, but I have an RV....just sayin....

I too am running G670's on my rig with no problems. I also ran them on my previous gasser with no problems. I guess the GY 670's are a tire that you either, like 'em or hate 'em.

Mich XZA2 Energy if you can get the size on! Op that smoother ride than the 670's.

We have GY670s on our coach and they are awesome, no cracking or problems at all.

Same as me. And IF the 670's weren't so high $$$ now...Id put them back on...but instead...mainly because of the lower miles I drive anymore.....Im going with a much less $$$ set of tires
