App sounds good for route planning but I wouldn't want my phone tied up for days on a trip. I use phone to locate fuel, food, RV parks. My opinion you need a dedicated GPS. I use the phone as a quick route check, at night when traveling, for the nexts days journey or for quick locations in a strange town before I head out. When driving I have a dedicated GPS for car and RV.
Ok, I'm a bit confuse. Do you need cell or Wifi to use the GPS function while traveling?
If you do not need coverage, how does it receive satellite information?
No...just GPS (satellite). You do not need Wifi and/or Data and/or Cell Coverage. The only time you need Wifi or data is when you download the app and/or maps. Once the app and maps are loaded locally on the phone it works just like any other stand-alone GPS.
