- gemertExplorerMather CG is in the National Park and closest to the Canyon. Limited hookups but sites are ok. We stayed at Grand Canyon Camper Village about 5 miles or so from the park entrance. It has full hookups but the staff is not very helpful. We were there to see the Canyon so it didn't matter too much. Have fun.
- kalynzooExplorerour continued favorite is Circle of Pines KOA in Williams. It is 60 miles (1 hr) in the toad to the South Rim. Lovely, full service campground, heated indoor pool, large sites. When camping up at the rim you have the heliport noise. JMHO
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThe best place is Trailer Village in the park itself (not Camper Village in Tusayan outside the park).
Trailer Village has full hookups and is within walking distance to the Rim. The free shuttle also stops there.
Mather is a dry campground - no hookups.
Williams is about 50 miles south of the Canyon. It's too far for daily visits. If doing the train you will only have a couple hours at the Canyon.
Stay at Trailer Village in the park. You'll be close to everything. - Two_HandsExplorerWe enjoy staying in the park with full hookups at Trailer Village RV Campground. Very close to the rim, shuttle stops at the entrance, cafeteria, store, gift shop nearby.
- Mile_HighExplorerLast time I was in Trailer Village, it had some tight turns with trees in the campground. That was quite a few years ago, maybe it is better now.
- 427435ExplorerThanks for the replies. Trailer village didn't have any sites for our dates. Ended up with reservations at Grand Canyon Camper Village. Per reviews, it's a little run down, but it has full hookups and didn't require a deposit.

We had some Elk come into the CG in the evening looking for handouts. Pretty cool, have fun.

Is that still the situation, drive a 45 foot motorhome?
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIHere are some photos of Trailer Village RV in Grand Canyon Nat'l Park South. Many big rigs 40+ go there including HDTs and big 5th wheels:
http://www.visitgrandcanyon.com/trailer-village-rv-park/photo-gallery - Mile_HighExplorerFrom the pics, it doesn't look like much has changed, - lots of overgrown trees that extend out into the drives. What we had trouble with was the turns at the end of the drives. I had trouble with a 30' travel trailer when I was there. I don't think I could fit through the drive in the second picture with what I have now unless I really didn't care about paint.
I'm just saying - like I said I haven't been there for a while. As with any park, plan your entry and exit.
