Cheaply made ratchet straps is the problem.
I ran across that same problem. It's those darn cheap webbed ratchet straps. They inch up. I had a load on a trailer and picked up 4 new ones and all of them loosened up on me. Not to mention the color came off on all the furniture it touched.:R
I still have my 20 year old straps that are made out of "thick material" not that plastic stuff and when you ratchet it down it does not move an inch. They just don't make these anymore.
I threw the ones that loosened up out. I spent a couple weeks looking for better made straps. They ARE out there you just have to find them. Look for straps that have the thicker material. They won't slip on you.
