Thank-you for all the suggestions. I thought it would be better to allow the suspension to move, but after reading all the comments, it's pretty unanimous that is not the way to go.
I do have plenty of wraps on the ratchet, so I don't think the straps are slipping or stretching as they are pretty thick and heavy.
Each one is rated for 5000 pounds. The whole vehicle doesn't weigh that much.
I will now attach the straps directly to the frame and cinch it down so that there is no travel from the suspension. The trailer won't be here for a few more weeks, so I won't know how this works for awhile.
I am curious as to the benefit of twisting the strap and/or crossing them.
