I have a 1992 Bounder 35J diesel pusher on an Oshkosh Chassis.When I turn on the headlights they come on fine, then after alittle while not long, they shut off. The markers and tail lights and blinkers still work fine, but the headlights cycle on and off causing a dangerous situation during nightime travel, or as required during rain in most states. I have looked all over and cannot find any fuse, relay or circuit breaker marked headlights. Can anyone help me find one of those things, or tell me if you have had the same problem and give me the quick fix for it?

Start with the ground and work back, but it does sound like a short in the circuit causing the breaker to cycle on and off. Try unplugging the passenger side headlight and see if it still does it. This will isolate 1/2 of the circuit.

It is most likely the head light switch itself causing the problem.

replace the headlite switch,it has built in circut breaker,depending on power train its either ford or gm,most likely gm all switches ar the same except for the resistor for the dash lites so just by apperance you can match it up at any nappa store,been there done that.

I had a Holiday Rambler that did that. Replaced the headlight switch. Solved problem.

I'll vote for the headlight switch too. My headlights started going off while driving. I replaced the switch, less than $20 I think, and the problem went away. Pretty easy change-out.

NAPA on Wells road had a replacement Bosch fuel pump for my Delorean a few years ago so I am not surprized that they could fix you up. Glad to hear they had your part. Amazing what have available in parts.

About two years ago when my lights were doing the very same thing, I found one of the headlight sockets arcing on right dim bulb. I replaced all sockets and installed a relay system, using two relays one for brights and one for dims. No more problems.

Good find. DO consider the relay upgrade-- that new switch will last a lot longer and your headlights will be brighter.

I Have found the Problem, with the help of a Partsguy at Napa, on Wells Road in Jacksonville, FL. My Motorhome is a 1992 Bounder 35J
diesil pusher. I needed to find a headlight switch, nobody had one and Oshkosh quit making them and went to a new design. The new design required an adaptor to work. The new switch was about $50.00
and the adaptor $450.00. Also, there was a 3 month wait for the adaptor. Napa found an Identical twin of my old switch for $25.00.
I plugged it in and wahlaa it works!!!!!! A savings of about $475.00
and no 3 month wait. The Napa part # is ECH HL6630 switch/commutateur Interruptor. Hope this helps some other poor soul looking for that discontinued part.

Actually a "vote" for TWO things.

New headlight switch AND wire the headlights through a relay with the switch only closing the relay. Lights will be brighter and switch will not be overloaded. About $10 extra for the relay, an inline fuse and a little wire.

The on/off is the circuit breaker operating. Some are located in the switch and others are on the main fuse block. You would need to check chassis owners manual.

Another vote for the head light switch. It has happened on some of our van work trucks. Easy fix.
