My thermostat has a "mode" button and I can cycle through fan only, cool, heat pump, furnace. I have to set this for each zone. What are you doing to turn heat on/off?
I set the mode to Heat/Electric. I don't have a choice except between gas & electric. The slider switch has "Cool" "Off" "Heat".
When you say the A/C "comes on too," are you saying the roof units start up AND you can hear the gas furnaces ignite?
Yes. And feel cold air out of the A/C vents and heat from the heater vents.
