The autopark light on and is leaking oil, I made it home ok, and I guess the park brake is working cause it's park in an incline in my driveway and is still there. But am just worry with all the stories out there, I had back surgery an my back is not good, so I cant even get under the rig and replace anything, trying to make it as easy as possible, besides am the only person who drive it. Had stick shift cars all my life and always left then with the manual emergency on.
Doesn't sound like you're going to be the one for any kind of conversion then, either. So best to educate yourself or have the Bear instruct another with how to repair the thing. Besides, not having a parking pawl in the tranny and relying sorely on manual braking only with varying degrees of strength in application, is not only dangerous, but irresponsible and could put you liable, as well.
From what you're saying, the green or brown sw. is leaking, but has not yet burst and thereby evacuating all the fluid. Also if it's holding, you haven't driven it with the brake on, so that's good. I would always chock the wheels on any incline regardless and even though, the brake is default ON and no matter.
I suggested a test procedure on that other thread and will quote it here, as well...
"OK, first order of business is to change out the green or brown switch and they are both the same (report back before attempting this and even though a very simple procedure). If that doesn't put your light out, then keep the old one on board for a spare. Next, change the gray one and again, keep the old one if still good.
If you still have fluid and especially if you can hear the pump stop after a few and not not keep recycling, then I'm guess that's it's just the gray light pressure relay, which is all it does. Turn the light off and on, that is.
So, key on, engine off, go from P to R, N, or D and whereas you should hear the pump come on and then stop, as soon as it makes pressure, thereby releasing the brake.
Remember the drive shaft parking brake is DEFAULT ON and the high pressure pump must run to release the powerful spring that engages this brake.
Again, there's no one on the planet that knows more than Roger about an AP. He will be more than glad to help, along with sending you a wealth of info for your files"
