Help with trip out West

I think it really depends on how old and how adventurous you are. I made a similar trip from CT in 1984 when the kids were little. I had 4 weeks vacation and I planned out every day. We took the northern route out and the southern route back through Grand Canyon and Smokey Mtn NP. We went out in a 4 cylinder Plymouth Voyager. I modified it so that my wife and 2 girls could sleep in the car and myself and my son slept in a 2 man tent. The kids still talk about the trip. I did a similar trip 2 years ago with my GS in my Class A MH which was much more comfortable. At 70 I would not want to repeat the 1984 trip in a SUV type car and a pup tent but it was the best family vacation that we ever had. Good Luck on what ever you decide.
