Hooking up Directv receiver

I have new direct tv receiver that has only rca hook up, my MH has coaxial hook up, and so does my sat dish. Which is the easiest and cheaper way to hook this stuff up. Thanks

What connector did you use to hook up to the dish? What model receiver did you get?

Out to the Tv will be either a HDMI, S-video, Component, Composite.

Hes not talking/asking about COAX INPUT he,s asking about COAX OUTPUT

I find it difficult to believe that it has "only" RCA hookups. Is this a bottom of the line SD receiver? It should also have S-video.
  • If you're interested, I have a thread here about doing the TV conversion. I haven't got back to working on this project yet so it is a work in progress. Clicky: Click here

Also keep in mind, I'm upgrading all my stuff to digital and so I get a true HD picture at all the TV's. If you are not looking for a true HD picture, then there are ways others have already mentioned about using the existing coax that would be cheaper than what I'm doing.
  • I have a new one and mine still has the Coax input from the Sat dish. And my Sat dish is a newer digital dish. Now output is another story. It no longer has the output in coax. I'm in the process of redoing my motorhome now and I'll be using HMDI cables. I bought a HDMI box that has two inputs and four outputs. So I'll input my Sat Receiver and my DVD player in, and then use three of the four outputs for HDMI cables to the front TV, rear TV, and output in the basement.

The front TV will be east as it's next to the cabinet with the TV. The rear TV not so easy. After looking at many different alternatives what I am going to do for the rear TV is get plastic channels that screw into the ceiling and put the 40' HDMI cable I bought in that and run it all the way to the back. There are already so many things on the ceiling anyway I don't think a plastic channel will look too out of place. I still don't know how I'll run the HDMI cable to the basement yet.

As for the existing coax in the motorhome, I'll get an A/B switch for that and input the Antenna and the Outside cable connection into the that. Then hook the existing cable to the new digital TV's which all still have a coax input. That big box with all the buttons is a thing of the past.

you mean it has no Coax outlet to TV but has coax from sat to receiver? correct??
it must be a new HD receiver then? Do u have HD capability?I doubt that u do. If not get a regular receiver as it will have coax
If u have HD dish,HD sat system AND HD capable TV then buy a wireless HD sender or run a cable somehow

  • Do you mean your TV has coax and the receiver has RCA?, never heard of hooking up the dish by RCA. My dish is a year old and the receiver is 2 yrs old and it has coax from the dish and HDMI to the TV.
