Hose pressure

I have a drip off a hydraulic hose..Not sure if it is a slide out or a leveler hose..gotta check it ..My question is : is there constant pressure on these hoses or just when extended ? If constant how do I release the pressure? And is that auto transmission fluid that is used ? And if it is trans fluid, is it Type F or some other? Thanks for the info in advance!!!!

Normally there is only pressure when work is being done such as moving the slide in or out. When at rest there is no pumping action and zero pressure.

Crack open any of your Slide room hoses connections. You may want to rethink your statement. ALL Hyd slide rooms have static pressure whether extended or retracted. Depending on the Brand of Jacks, they may have pressure when retracted. Dextron 3 is the fluid for all motorhome Jack/slide systems. Doug

    Thanks they are Lippert..

  • Please tell us what brand/model hydraulic system you have.
  • OK,that is good ,now about the fluid,,Type A or F or does it matter ??

Levelers will have pressure as long as they are extended.

That is correct. When the jacks are extended (in most cases) there is a hydraulic lock that keeps them extended. A leak with generally cause the jack to slowly retract.
