House Water Pump Follow Up

Finally at a place where I could remove the cover and see the pump. Everything appears to be ok. I ran it and it makes a terrible rattling noise. Isolated hoses and noise/rattling never changed. I took off the line that goes into what looks like a clear plastic filter. Hooked it back up and now the pump runs, even not pumping water, It will run, extremely slowly, but will run. I shut the power off and then back on, and it won't start up......but then as soon as I turn water on, and it stays off, like it should till I put a demand on it, by turning the water on, but then I turn the water on and and then back off......it will run at very slow speed. It's a Remco 55 Aqua Jet. I just bought this motorhome about 8 months ago. The date on the pump is 2-13.....so it's not very old. Thanks
Brian

I've had three regular RV pumps do that. If there's any piece of debris in the pump head it will leak internally and never build full pressure.
Take the head apart and rinse all the parts off under water - it's really an easy job.

Great advice. Had 2 pumps do this to me through the years.
  • I would call the mfg, the tech is really helpful. If there is an accumulator tank in the system that could be part of the problem. VS pumps sometimes don't work well with them.

  • Brian, it is possible that there is air trapped in the system and it needs to bleed that air out? You may have got air in when you removed the filter. You may want to go to each faucet and bleed the system and ensure that the air is out. JMO
  • It's working as it should. It's a nice variable speed pump so it will run slow unless more flow is demanded.
I hope I'm understanding you right.. Or are you saying it keeps running when the faucet is off?
