55 gallon tank on our '00 E350 ('99 chassis) as well.
We average 9MPG and run for about a half tank before seeking a filling station. That translates into 250 to 300 mile runs, commonly a daily drive when we are heading cross-country.
The tank is stainless as is all parts within the tank - We know:
