Having the larger tank gives you more gas for the gen before it hits the 1/4 shut off. I do a lot of concrete RV'ing at sporting events and I can go a whole lot longer before having to break camp and refuel to run the gen then most of my cohorts!
For awhile there they thought I was hiding extra filled gas cans in my bays because I didn't have to fuel up as often as they did. Most of them had Chevy's, all had smaller gas tanks than my E450 Ford V-10.
