beaverjocky,
While most people are absolutely clueless as to the calculations, effects, weight(distribution and placement and offset), handling and more, there are a couple on here that do know how the system works.
Thank you Smitty for your plug here. Beaverjocky, I do it. And, have done it for 8,000 miles and no one's died yet, no world catastrophes, WWIII has not started yet (it hasn't has it?). The back of the motorhome has not fallen off, the roof didn't tear off, the front wheels of the coach are not pulling wheelies, there's no wandering, no ill handling effects WHAT SO EVER!
Way back when I enquired about the same exact thing, I got all kinds answers that insinuated that as soon as I did, the end of the world would happen. Well, I think the world is still here.
OK enough sarcasm. Yep, you're absolutely correct on the price of the Hydralift. They're pretty proud of them. And, you're absolutely correct in the fact that they ARE THE BEST LIFT OUT THERE, BY FAR!!!!"They are the best constructed, the most stable, very capable, (1000 lbs) and they're not all that hard to install.
One more thing, if you decide you'd like to use that style lift, and, have a bit of patience, you'll find one used on ebay (like I did) and or, craigslist for way less than new and they work flawless. The DW was cruising around on ebay one day and came out to me and told me to take a look at an ebay add she found.
Well, long story short, we picked one up in Scottsdale AZ, for $1800.00 TOTAL!
I did the install. I did all the calculations and it came out exactly as I planned. I wont' go any further with this unless you're interested. If so, PM me and I'll give you any details you desire. Take a look at the pics and see for yourself. Good luck.
