Thanks for all the great input everyone. For sure, my answer came when I called a Hydra-Lift installer and got the price of $5200. I like my Harley but it can stay home for that. I am encouraged by Fire Up's plan of Ebay or Craigslist as an option. That would be the only way I'd go with that option. By the way, NICE TOYS Fire-up!
Dealing with the vehicle weight is really frustrating. I can't see anyway I would ever be able to stay under the stated rating. Since this is our home now, by the time we moved in and ready for travel we weigh 34,000 on a 32,800 rated vehicle (assuming the truck scale is accurate). I'm not totally convinced that these weight ratings are truly a result of the chassis capability to handle it rather than ratings to circumvent government duty tax and regulations. I can't say I've seen a honest to goodness chassis failure due to overload after 45 years in dealership service departments. I've seen pickup's loaded to the bump-stops and they keep on trucking.
Based on my calculations however I could go the trailer route and still be under the GCVW of 42,800, depending on the trailer I choose.
Thank you everyone for your participation, it is helpful for me with my decision making.
