I like em. Went to both Chicago RV shows, Rosemont last weekend, there were a LOT of these new "Small Class A" motorhomes displayed in both shows.
Didn't I read somewhere that Ford is no longer producing the "cutaway chassis"?
Instead they are making the e350 / e450 "van chassis" as a stripped chassis.
Only difference between that and an F53 is the GVRW.
So Ford has decreed that new small Class A's will happen, because they are making the chassis for it.
At the same time, Chevy is back into the van cab chassis. ALL the new Class C's at both shows were Chevy's
Sprinter's were lacking at both shows. Where last year, nearly half of the driveable RV's were sprinters, this year, maybe 2!
One thing I sat up and took notice of, a real Class C, 33 foot, based on a Ford F550 chassis, with a 6.7 powerstroke diesel!!
And my DW said she could drive that!
So in summary:
Conventional class C's are on their way out. Aerodynamics as well as the need for the cabover bed are sounding it's death knell.
Replaced by small Class A's. All the goodies of an A, lighter weight, smaller size, better economy. Dropdown cabover bed's bringing the families back in.
Still lots of Big gassers. 32 to 37 feet, all F53's (no competition for Ford in this range) Very nice coaches, lots of bath and a half's, lots of residential refridgerators, lots of very nice floor plans.
Only saw 2 class A diesel's at the Rosemont show, both single axle, a tiffen RED 40; and a Thow Pallazo shortie diesel.
