Oh boy, I'm glad I found this thread. I'm in the same boat and clearly the guy who wrote the manual is nuts. Here's the manual diagram:

Any idea how I'm supposed to locate "Make sure valves 1, 2, 3, and 5 are closed and valve 4 is open"? It's not even close to matching the manual.

TO FILL THE WATER TANK:
1. Connect the garden hose to the city water connection. Fill the tank.
• Make sure valves 1, 2, 3, and 5 are closed and valve 4 is open. (Fig. 4-2 & 4-3)
2. Open kitchen and bathroom faucets to allow air to escape the water lines and water heater
