When we first got our DP 58 - 62 was what felt comfortable. After adding new shocks and recent Tru Center, the coach feels much more stable. This last year I was comfortable at 62 - 65. Plus the engine was more in its best rpm range at 1750 -1800 rpm's. Actually at those speeds the gas mpg increased by almost 1 mpg. Less gear dropping on inclines.
IMHO, coaches drive differently. Example higher end ones most likely handle better, thus the reason you hear those claiming over 100 mph ( LOL). But it all boils down to Some are in a hurry and some aren't. Many coaches get squirrelly at higher speeds and make going slower the likely response.
There is a sweet spot on running rpm's for every engine ( best torque, mpg). But it doesn't always mean the best handling speed. Loading, tire pressures, shocks, suspension, steering issues all come into play.
Some ignore all the feedback the coach is giving them.
