I as just driving on I495 North on Mass and I was passed by a Monaco Monarch doing around 80 MPH. It was swaying from side to side as if there was a wind issue but there was no wind. Also he was towing a trailer and that was swaying quite a bit. I see DPs doing 80 quite often but never see gassers like this one doing it. The man was making tracks for sure.
When I drive my rig I tend to do so between 55 and 65. That is my comfort range with my 37' gasser. What is yours?
My tires are only good for 75mph. Don't know about the idiot you encountered, but here's my logic and have stated this, many times before. If the speed limit and what's considered safe by the DOT, for a sports car is what's posted and what is usually 70mph on most US interstates, how can it be possible that a behemoth of any sort, can handle and stop as well and thereby be safe at this same speed?
Story short, we usually lumber along around 50 or so, enjoy the view and allow people in the other lanes to get where they're going without delay.
Speaking of rigs like ours, going really fast and on more than one occasion, I've been passed by the same one, as much as three times in one day. Ummmmmmmmmm!....and so much for getting there in a hurry.
