how hard is it to replace toilet?

Water line is probably 1/2" PEX
Home Depot/Lowes/ACE hardware
Flair-it fittings OR sharkbite/gatorbites

I prefer the sharkbite (home depot) or gatorbites (Lowes) over flair-it fittings.
They just snap on....done
Cost more but are so easy to use and don't leak

i'm going to go to home depot today and see what i can come up with

It's better by about half an inch. which is exactly what I needed hehe

I'm curious as to why a shut off valve on the toilet is so necessary. I kind of understand the convenience if you have to work on the toilet or something but don't you shut off the water to the whole RV when away or asleep?

we didn't do a shutoff yet. I had to put an elbow on it though because the connection was horizontal but the water line was coming from the bottom..

I think I can find a shutoff valve that will just fit to the connector already on the water line and to the elbow. I didn't need any more waterline actually need considerably less.

I'm going to look for something that I can use w/out having to cut that line.

It may not be necessary in the case of a really small drip/leak..........there are work arounds like turning off the pump.....if you are in a RV park with hook ups then you disconnect from park water and use the galley pump instead......


BUT......if your toilet valve suffers a MAJOR leak like mine did one time while dry camping and 50 miles to the nearest hardware store.....then a shut off valve is more than a "Convenience"...It's a vacation saver....in my case I had to use a pair of vice grips to clamp off the PEX line......thus ruining the tubing.....


If we hadn't clamped off the toilet line we couldn't wash dishes......wash hands.....shower without flooding the bathroom......etc.....



For the cost of adding a valve.......$5-8.....it was a no brainer.......I have since added shut off valves to all of my faucets......including my outside shower......
