We went through the same progression of rvs that you did. We bought our 34 foot Class A less than a year ago. I personally found it much easier to drive the motorhome than pulling our 30 foot fiver. What we did was take it on 4 different day trips before any "long hauls". One of the trips was going from sea level over a 4000 foot mountain pass just to have lunch. Might as well have a little fun while learning. I not only wanted to become comfortable driving the motorhome, I wanted to find out what to expect of the motorhome. It is quite a bit different driving in part because you are much higher and are sitting closer to the side of the coach which is wider than your truck was. I can say for certain that I will never go back to pulling a 5th wheel.
