There are two things in the above comments that I can really identify with, the first is Tail Swing, the rear end will go out beyond what you expect and I have had two scrapes pulling out from being parked at a curb, the second is my placement in the road, I learned on my first trip to watch my mirrors and try and get in the center of the lane and then pick a spot on the windshield and place it on the white line. This took a couple of hours of driving to get used to.
Now I use the spot on the windshield automatically to center the rig in the lane. I had to learn how to judge where the rig was in the lane when the DW was driving. I used a similar thing, found out if the right side line was in the right side corner of the windshield that she was where I hoped she was.
I still have to consciously think about tail swing on almost every maneuver requiring more that a 10 or 15 degree turn.
The best part of being in a Class A is, sitting up there and being able to see so much and anticipate what others are doing or might do. I love being the Captain.
