How long do you stay in one place?

Most B campers are not full timers, so I'm posting this here (can only be wrong). As a B camper we generally move around a lot. Retired, but have family commitments at home, so time is still precious, but not restrictive. From the midwest we have traveled mostly throughout the south and as an example went to see St Augustine last year. Spent 4 days getting there, a night here, a night there, not in a hurry and enjoying the trip. Arrived at our destination and spent 3 days and 2 nights and got "happy feet" or the itch to be on the road again and see what's around the next bend. Headed up the coast to Savannah, and worked our way home from there. A 2-1/2 week extremely enjoyable trip.
My question is: Do other B owners, or campers in general, move about as often as we do? Or are we the odd duck out? What's your trip like? Do you seek a destination and spend a week or so, or meander about as we do?

Thanks
  • We use ours to get to destinations quickly. She is always moving. We use her for naps en route. What a nice way to cover a lot of miles!
  • When we travel and not in a hurry to get somewhere, 2 nights is preferred. I don't enjoy setting up camp for just one night, and unless there is something worth sticking around for, after a couple of days, I'm ready to move on.
  • I travel a lot in my RT but don't stay in one place very often.

Even when I'm in a campground for a week or so, I'll change sites when the need arises. Ease of movement is one of the biggest advantages of a B.

In my recent week-long visit to Yellowstone NP, I stayed in 4 different campgrounds, giving me the opportunity to explore the entire wide-ranging park.

Of course, getting to the destinations takes a lot of driving and being in a different overnight spot every night. Again, one of the benefits of B ownership.
  • At a major national park like Rocky Mtn, Olympic, or Glacier, or a big city like NY or Washington DC, we usually stay 3 days. Otherwise, 1 or 2 days would be the norm. Two months is the longest trip we have ever taken.
  • As B campers, we stay maybe 5 days maximum. More often, just a night or two. We do a lot of sightseeing, though we veg out a little longer and stare at the water when in Florida sometimes.
  • The last time we went from coast to coast it took us 2 months to get there and back, and the longest we stayed anywhere was 5 days. But on the way back to CT we decided to stop at Myrtle Beach and ended up staying there for 3 more weeks. We don't know where we will end up or how long we might stay till we get there.
  • So far our getaways are only a couple days because we have our kids. We take the Bounder with them and the dogs. We are planning a trip to the Albuquerque ballon Fiesta next month for 4 days with just me and mama.
  • It is quite variable. We generally go for 25-35 days and will target 2 or 3 areas we want to visit. Within each area we might spend several days at one place and then move on or we might stay at a single place.
