For me, it's all about limiting the damage to the battery, not if it will start or not. It may start after sitting for 2 months, but in that time did the battery get low enough to shorten it's life? Probably
Do what the Mumkin did, and wire in a disconnect.
I don't know where the op lives, but weather can have a big effect on batteries. If it's freezing in the winter, he might want to remove it.
