Beyond the miles, how OLD is it? We get a lot more positive reports on former rentals than negative. I suppose the negatives could feel they made a bad choice and are embarrassed to post, but still... We bought a much older Class C with 95000 and the problems we faced were not from miles but from standing in several of its later years.
I really like the layout of the 28A. Rentals are good because they delete some problem items. You might want to add the awning they deleted, but you will be happy that it doesn't have ratty worn out carpet, for example.
From what I read, CA (if that's the company selling the 28A you're looking at) is pretty straightforward about what maintenance and repairs they've done. Check that off against what's called for at that age and mileage. See if anything's missing and maybe you can get them to do at least some of it. Examples are: Service Transmission, Change Rear Axle Lube (go full synthetic) and replace Spark Plugs, possibly Coils. 10 plugs + 10 coils is at least $300 parts alone.
A Front End rebuild can be pricey and very possibly hasn't been done. You can get all new take-off parts from a company that converts E-Series to 4x4 at a good price, but it'd take a trained tech a day's labor to swap it all over. An experienced DIY could do it in a couple days.
