- PhotomikeExplorer IIII have one on my van and always thought they were more of a pain then they were worth. Then a couple years ago we were coming back home from dropping my daughter off at University and hit a board laying on the road. A minute later off goes the alarm and I pulled over, the tire emptied in less than a minute and by pulling right over I saved the tire. My daughter on the other hand does not have TPM and she was driving her car and got a flat and by the time she noticed it the tire was shredded.
Decided that I will be adding to the camper soon just for the extra piece of mind. - bob_nestorExplorer IIII bought a cheap Chinese TPMS for about $100 last year to use on my Jeep Wrangler when I'm towing it and now have about 20,000 towed mies with it. Over my Christmas camping trip one sensor was showing low pressure but that was due to the batteries needing replacement in the sensors. Stopped at Walmart and picked up $20 worth of button batteries and installed them in the sensors. Less than 200 miles further down the road the warning alarm went off and by the time I got pulled to the side of the road the tire was down to the rim. Figure the TPMS just paid for itself since I saved the tire and didn't do any damage to the rim.
- pianotunaNomad IIIwhich ones do folks have. temperature and pressure would be great.

I do not for my motorhome, but my car (as with all new cars) did come with one. I make it a general rule to check the tire pressure in the motorhome daily when driving, and give them a quick once-over visually and by feel (checking for obviously too hot tires) at gas or lunch or whatever stops. While that's the general plan, I will admit I occasionally cheat a bit and skip a daily pressure check.
The following is why you "should" have TPMS on your motor home.Posted By: Jay Pat on 12/30/16 07:17am
Have one. It's the only way to know what your air pressures are while rolling down the road.
I't also, a very simple way to check tire pressures before heading out.
Pat - wildtoadExplorer IIMy toad ( also daily driver) has one and find it mostly worthless as I check pressures regularly. I don't think I would have paid extra for one. However, it may be helpful should a tire go flat while being towed. I do not have one on my mh.
- lanerdExplorer IIWhen one of your inside duals picks up a nail or some other item that causes it to lose air and the tire goes flat.....coming apart ripping out fiberglas, wires, tubing.... you'll wish you had tpms that would have alerted you in plenty of time.

My question is how will you know if it goes flat when being towed? Does it communicate with the motor home or is it just on the vehicle? - larry_barnhartExplorerwe have them on the alpenlite. Like knowing what is going on back there. Usually have an issue with one every time we have used them. Battery life has been problems. We only use them going and coming on the winter's trip not much time but some batteries get changed on the road.

Photomike's reply above is confusing. The built-in TPMS installed on cars by their manufactures do not communicate with any other TPMS. Therefore, you have to get an aftermarket TPMS that will have sufficient amount of sensors for all the tires including the toad. Case in point, my Pressure Pro TPMS has provisions for 16 tires, but I only have sensors on 13.....8 on the mh and 5 (one for the spare) on the toad.
Once disconnected from the motor home, I then rely on the car's built in TPMS to alert me to any problems with the tires on the car (toad) except for the spare.
Hope this helps clear up the confusion.
Ron - TerryallanExplorer III don't. but I will. Last summer I had a flat on the TT. Didn't know it for miles. A TPMS would have let me know instantly. so I will have one on the TT before camping time again
