Currently, we have a single panel (unsure of the wattage) that keeps a charge on the house and chassis batteries in storage. The house batteries are 4- Napa RV/Marine 12v, so not really deep cycle. However, a project on the list is to remove all batteries, clean, treat and paint the battery drawer and replace the house batteries with Trojan T-105 or similar, shooting for 800 AH. I plan to add about 600 watts of solar and a descent controller so I can go off grid occasionally without too much pain.
And there in lies the difference. Minimal solar to keep the house jars topped off or enough solar and the proper batteries to free yourself from the pedestal and genny.
