How Much Tire Air Pressure When Carring More Weight ?

I have upgraded to G rated tires on my motorhome and at max pressure it will carry 4575 lbs per tire {dual} at 110 psi, but when I weighted my motorhome my rear axel weight was 14,400 lbs, {fully loaded and tonged weight from trailer} so I run at 90 psi in rear tires but how do I know if I am using enough air pressure.

Is there a chart that says what weight at what pressure, 110 psi would be just to hard.

Also the tires have no minimum pressure on tires other than label inside motorhome that's says 80 psi but that was for the F rated tires from factory.

Just remember that for any given weight, it doesn't matter if you have F or G rated tires. It takes the same air pressure to hold the same weight. The only advantage to G rated tires is they will hold more weight, but you have to increase the air pressure to do that. Where your F rated tires may max out at 100 PSI you G rated ties might go to 120 PSI.

I think he knows that. What he asked was how many pounds does he need to carry to support the weight he is currently carrying
he says hes at 90 lbs and I contend hes good to go based on his posted Tire pressures and ratings

It is wonderful that you know what the OP knows about his tire, even tho he doesn't know about a tire chart for RV's. My point was that there was no need for him to upgrade to G rated tires since his F rated tires could easily carry the 14,400 pounds on his rear axle.
  • Besides the tires, what is the MAXIMUM weight rating of the rear AXLE??...Dennis

  • What manufacturer and size tires? You can Google your tire brand and most likely find a chart for your tires. I have found that for the most part, they all have the same pressures.

based on my calculations @90 lbs your good for 14976 lbs rear axle weight
