I try to stay away from brand name, company owned or franchised, shops. You are paying a big hourly rate for the name on the billboard out front and not the mechanic who does the work. I find that the little locally owned diesel shops have some very excellent mechanics, and I don't have to pay the big time hourly rate. They perform just like the big boys in the city at almost $40 less per hour. And they work as well, if not better, than those big boys.
But I do admire that guys who can do that kind of work. It takes a special person. Plus I do not like black grease under my finger nails. Doing a job like that takes me forever, because of all the hand washing I have to do.
