I recently upgraded from an older Class B to a newer Class C. When I was out shopping, the RV that I really liked didn't have a generator. I passed. Having a generator is essential in my book.
For example, I drove through Arizona in the early summer. Had to stop for the night when I got too tired. The generator in my older B wasn't working (and even if it did it was way too loud) so I couldn't run the AC. Couldn't come close to sleeping in the heat. We ended up having to get a hotel room down the interstate at 1:30 in the morning. Ugh.
On my last trip, I stopped at a rest stop in Colorado Springs. Was probably 80 degrees at night. Too warm for sleeping. I ran the AC for a while then killed it. Kept the coach cool enough for sleeping comfortably.
Lots of times when I'm on the road, I just want to pop something in the microwave to avoid cooking or going out to eat. Can't do that without the generator. I don't use the genny a lot but it's great to have when I need it. To me, there's no sense in spending all the money on an RV and dealing with all the cost and hassles of a home on wheels and not have a generator.
