We only use our generator once or twice a year. Like someone said, you could get a portable one.
The Yamaha 2400 is designed to run an RV AC unit LINK. Some AC units can be run by a 2000 watt gennie but I wouldn't want to bank on it. My previous RV didn't have a generator so when I was dry camping I carried a Honda 2000. We rarely use the AC unit so that wasn't an issue. My current RV has an on board APU but I still carry a little Honda for battery charging as it's so quiet.
I know of one person that put his RV on a diet and replaced his Onan with a Yamaha 2400 and another that did it with a Honda 3000.
