We most exclusively camp without hooking up to 110v. Our rig has an Onan 4000 and yes it's more noisey than wished, but still very nice to use on a daily basis. We run the Onan typically in the morning while getting ready for the day to brew coffee, charge our coach batteries, camera batteries, laptop battery, and cell phone batteries, always heating water whenever the generator is on. Run time can be from 10 minutes to an hour pending the need.
We don't run the roof a/c much because we are usually out during the heat of the day, but the little we run the Onan for that, it works well. We need to be aware of what's running off the generator. If we brew coffee, heat water, and run the a/c together, we sometimes trip the breaker on the Onan itself. Apparenty it is an over-load condition. So we turn off the water heater when called for.
We would terribly miss a generator....a "Must Have" feature for us.
