Dear Friends .... Would somebody be able to give me some step by step instructions on how to remove and replace the fuel filter & fuel pump on my 4ky Onan Mobile Genset Generator? Model 4ky Fa26100J - S/N
L000188850.

I was recently told by an Onan generator EXPERT (...he rebuilds them and has done dozens or maybe hundreds...) to be careful regarding the fuel pump replacement. He said some non-OEM makers of these fuel pump replacements do NOT have an internal shutoff valve mechanism and can result in situations where fuel can leak (...leak until your tank is at 1/4 full, so it could be a lot). So I suggest you replace yours with an Onan brand fuel pump.

    Good luck!

  • The most difficult, time consuming issue with mine was....I had to remove the generator from it’s compartment. I staked some pallets to get the appropriate height, disconnected everything that would prohibit it’s removal, remove cover to access the pump/filter, replace offending parts, reverse procedure to put back into compartment area. Just did this a few weeks ago! memtb
  • Now, that was one GOOD video with step-by-step directions!!! Thanks!
  • In our Itasca Spirit, you can't get to the right end of the Onan generator as it is mounted. Hope I never have to service the fuel pump and/or filter.
  • If your Onan is an on board RV unit, make sure the fuel pump for your RV is also working properly, and there is enough fuel in the gas tank. Some Ford chassis had problems pumping gas on a hot day. The fuel pump's fins would flatten out and not pump enough fuel. Not an easy fix, as the pump is inside the RV fuel tank. USAF 65-86. (Onan maint an additional duty in mobile Sq)
  • Super simple.
Find the existing parts. Likely on left side of engine. Unscrew, un plug, take hoses off. Repeat for install.
