How to run 2 ac units on one genset

We have an older RV It only has the one AC unit and when it gets into the nearly 100 degree area it's only tolerable buy shutting off the rear bedroom door.
I can remember them selling a switch for the genset years ago. Did they work at all?
As this is an older unit I have to think about the costs involved.
So upgrading both the genset to some 6-7 kw and another AC is pretty expensive.

  • 5.5KW GENSET WILL RUN 2 AC UNITS. The ONLY switch for running 2 AC units off either Genset or 30 amp shore power was a system called the "Pulse Air". What this did was allow both AC's to run alternately. The system would not allow BOTH AC's to run at the same time, but if one was off the other could then run. It also allowed you the option of running wither genset on Shore or Genset if your Genset(less than 5.5)could NOT run two AC's. I do not know if they still market this aftermarket system. There is nothing that can be added to a too small genset to run 2 RV ac's. Doug
  • HOW large is the present Gen set. If 3000/3500 then you can try , start the first one and let it settle down then start the second one with the thermostat set at a lower or higher setting. Nothing else can be on AC with both running. We ran several years that way, only issue, no other AC appliance could be turn on.
