We did most of that route several years ago. Our MH is only 32' but if the driver wants sight see you sure don't want to be driving any MH. We camped on 101 near hwy 46, drove the toad half way to Monterey on hwy 1, returned to MH, drove the MH up 101 to Monterey, camped there and round tripped the north half of hwy 1 in the toad.
With a toad if you miss something you can easily turn around & go back, toad parking is readily available and with the higher fuel prices on hwy 1 it’s less expensive.
