Hydro Hot Question

Just went out to kick on the Hydro Hot to jump start the heater, and it wouldn't come on. Just had it serviced, but I checked the over flow tank and it was a little low, have some fluid I had bought for it, added it, and the hydro hot kicked right on. Is that normal??
Also, I probably should have waited, but the fluid was blue, for some reason I expected it to be green or yellow. Hope that is ok as well.
Thanks for any responses.

  • Never heard of BLUE Propylene Glycol. Just make sure your BLUE container states GRAS and is Propylene GLYCOL. Doug
  • There is a low fluid sensor that shuts it down. You probably lost some fuid by leak or evaporation. I used to have a tiny leak and this would happen. A few onces of fluid added would fix it. Since it took so little fluid I used distilled water which only very slightly reduced that antifreeze concentration.
  • depending on the Hydro Hot some use a 50-50 mix of ethylene glycol and some use a special coolant made for hydrohots. Mine is a 2001 and mine uses a 50-50 mixture and it is green.Dont know why it started after adding fluid.
