Was born and raised in NO 74 years ago. Left 53 years ago and only return for funerals (and not many of those left). Was amazed to see I-55 through the Manchac swamp - when I was in college at Hammond, they had spent years trying to build a 4 lane highway through that swamp and never made it. Now it is a very long bridge and works well (until you hit I-10).
