Original Poster here: After 10 months of use, I've noticed a couple of new clues. It only beeps when the sun is shining and I am plugged into shore power. I'm guessing that it could be a beep that alerts me that the solar controller has finished charging the batteries. Since I'm plugged in, the batteries actually do get fully charged and the solar controller beeps to alert me. This is just a guess.
