Mercedes put self-driving car on the freeways few years ago (don't think they can plan the trip though).
For legal reason the system disengage when driver takes hands of the steering wheel for few seconds.
Smart guys fooled the system by hanging a can of Coke on steering wheel.
Pepsi works too.
