Until limited access/dedicated freeways are constructed for them just like railways, autonomous vehicles will not be safe enough for public use. And even with railways, those super-smart routing computers make mistakes and put two trains on the same rail in opposite directions. Granted, it's rare, but it does happen. Plus, where's the fun in it? I like to be in control of my machines. Heck, I don't even really like the auto-braking features and the anti-spin features on the newer vehicles...but that's just me....
