I heard you get better fuel economy at 75mph because yer engine doesn't run as long getting to the destination. We upgraded with air bags and toilet paper oil filter so we go, like, 60? in CA most of the time, eh?
What we like about Utah! is hardly anyone is speeding on the I15.
You heard wrong on that fuel consumption at 75. Your engine may not run as long, but it will suck more gas, at least for any motorhome. Each different type of vehicle will have an optimum speed that gets it the best MPG. Motorhomes will suck a lot more fuel at 75 versus 55. A corvette on the other hand may have an optimal MPG speed in the 75 or higher range.
Ok lots of wining about the 55 speed limit while towing. I was in California this summer for about 30 days. I decided to be a good guy and drive 55. I also thought this would really help my average fuel mileage especially time spent in the valley where it is basically flat. Well not so much I can't shift into 6th till 65 mph I run 55 in 5th gear at the same rpm as 65 in 6th. For the 8 fill ups in California versus the next 8 after where I drove 65 most of the time. I got .876 mpg better running up the Oregon coast then back east through Wyoming and Montana. Not so flat travel. We got places faster to.

That was likely caused by not using California fuel. I get 10% to 20% better mpg when I get gas outside of California too.
