I'd like some clarity on the California towing speed limit

I just got to California yesterday and noticed the signs that said vehicles towing trailers are limited to 55 mph. I wasn't sure if that applied to me towing my toad (not a trailer) but I slowed down...

There's your info. To tow a 5th wheel weighing more than 15k or a travel trailer weighing over 10k you need a non-commercial Class A. I have no idea on the weights of trailers so I have no idea how big a 5th wheel or TT it would take to exceed those weights. And for trailers it's specifically talking about RV type trailers. The only rule on the motorhomes is over 40' you need the non-commercial class B.
